The Dinkmobile is a 1995 Citröen ZX "Flash" -- with "power nothing." Runs on diesel (which is now being discouraged in France due to problems with Japan) and gets great fuel efficiency, is small and unobtrusive. Cars with automatic transmissions have virtually no resale value in France -- everything's manual here. Gasoline is costly and is not a popular fuel. (Many vehicles are hybrids, or electric, or run on other alternative methods, especially municipality vehicles.) Cars are discouraged in Paris for good reason, and parking passes have to be obtained at City Halls in each arrondissement, from what I gather. The "bournes" no longer accept coins or credit cards. Street parking is usually free on weekends, however. You might have to park a bit farther away from where you want to go and walk or take public transportation. Public transportation is slow, and does not run 24 hours a day -- but it's generally good value for your money, especially if you buy a "carnet" (ten-pack) of métro-bus-tramway tickets. (You can get these in tobacco shops and in métro stations -- if you're not put off by interacting with a French computer, they can be obtained at tramway stops, also, with a credit or debit card -- American credit cards are increasingly not welcome here, however.)
