Entry from: Mendoza, Argentina Entry Title: "Santiago to Mendoza" Entry: "I have left Santiago behind and crossed the border from Chile into Agrentina on Sunday and am now staying in the town of Mendoza, famous for producing over 80% of Argentina´s wine. The bus journey across the Andes gave for some amazing views but the reflections in the window meant no photos came out, so sorry about that! My Spanish is still at a very basic level, I can ask for things, and give basic greetings, but have no idea what is being said back to me! The second week in Chile and of my Spanish lessons went much better, once I accepted that I was not going to get fluent in two weeks, and should just focus on learning key phrases rather than accurate verb conjucation. Im not sure how happy my teacher was with me not taking school too seriously, but what can I say? Old habbits die hard! Last week, I went out in the evening with other students from the school, to a bar to watch traditional Chilean dancing, which should have been an enriching cultural experience, however because of my excitement at the "all you can drink" conditions, my memory of that night is as follows: We arrived at the bar, it was all you can drink, there was some kind of Tango on stage, I debated with one of the teachers why Europeans were better at football ...
